The Dance and the Railroad makes use of Chinese opera aesthetics to portray the struggles of early Chinese-American immigrants working on the transcontinental railroad in the midst of a strike. A Japanese ghost story inspired by Noh theater, The Sound of a Voice is an eerily beautiful play about the desire and desperation of two opposites: a samurai and a mysterious, reclusive woman.
