Nii Armah Sowah, senior instructor in the CU-Boulder Department of Theatre and Dance, was recognized with a Marinus Smith Award from the CU Parents Association for the 2013 spring semester.

Parents and students nominate recipients of the award, which recognizes CU-Boulder faculty, staff, coaches and administrators for making a significant impact on the lives of undergraduate students.

“Someone out there really values your efforts and this award is a small token of the Parent Association’s appreciation for your hard work and dedication to our students,” wrote Jack Odom, president of the CU Parents Association Board, in a letter to Sowah.

A ceremony recognizing the 16 2013 recipients was held in April.

The award is named for Colorado pioneer Marinus Smith, who came to Colorado in 1859 in pursuit of gold and later donated 25 acres of land and oversaw the fundraising effort to bring the university to Boulder.
